3、“Masterpieces of the Oral and Intagible Heritage ”of the United Nation, it aroused more and more attention and passion of scholars. At present, there are lots of researches about Muqam , however, the study towards Turpa

4、n Muqam is rather limited. By making detailed analysis of librettos, and with the help of current researches about Muqam and fieldworks, the essay tries to start from the illusturation of general properties of Turpan Muq

5、am to get a systematical and overall master of this trinity folk culture, excavates abundant connotation of this folk culture, and attempts to get a further understanding towards producion, daily life and cultural chara

6、cters of local people on the basis of the apperance and development of the culture, so as to conclude the social function of Turpan Muqam, and make positive effort for knowing the historical meaning and fulfill its curre

7、nt value, at the same time, provide some useful reference for heriting and protecting culture. This essay can be divided into five parts. Introduction part gives a definite explanation toward Muqum, the science of Muqam

8、, Uygur Muqam and Turpan Muqam, points out the researching fields of Muqam, and makes a thorough narration and commentation to the current study from home and abroad. Chapter1 mainly discusses the position of Turpan Muqa

9、m in all kinds of Muqams, and the relation between them, pursues the trace of its development, and collates the content, origin, and character of its libretto, as well as demonstrates its importance in the structure of t

10、rinity. Chapter2 devotes to exvacate the folk culture reflected by its libretto from production and way of life, social values, seeking for love, and pious believes. By analyzing the libretto and using personal researchi

11、ng materials, Chapter3 delivers the functions contained in Turpan Muqam, that is message container and culuture disseminater, enhancing understanding and guiding behaviour, exchanging feelings and uniting group members,

12、organizing and regulating community，as well as illustrates the changes happened on the above functions. Conclusion part deals with the current value of Turpan Muqam from angles of generation transmiting and protecting of
